Exeter Racecourse

Drive to the top of the glorious Haldon Hills and you’ll soon see why this is one of the loveliest racecourses in the country. Exeter Racecourse has been holding race meetings here under Jockey Club rules since 1769, though the gorgeous setting amidst gorse, heather and forest has almost certainly seen racing of some kind from the time of King Charles 11. As well as being one of the most historic racecourses in the country, it is unquestionably the highest, at almost 850 feet above sea level!
